Kim Deitch's memoir continues at The Comics Journal . Part 4 covers rock and roll, but includes comments by animator Tony Eastman that supply information about his parents, both of whom worked at Disney on the early features, and what he's up to currently.

Myron Waldman's Eve Reprinted

I wrote about Eve , a 1943 pantomime graphic novel by Fleischer/Famous animator/director Myron Waldman here . It's going to be reprinted in The Comics Journal #299 with an introduction by cartoonist Mark Newgarden. The reprint will be reduced in size compared to the original, but it's great that this hard-to-find work will be in print once again. The Comics Journal #299 should be in comics shops on August 19 or you can order it here .

Gene Deitch Interview

The Comics Journal #292 will be available on September 4, and it includes an interview with animator Gene Deitch and his cartoonist sons Kim and Simon. You can read an excerpt of the interview here , and the excerpt includes Gene talking about his early days in the animation business, including mentions of John Hubley, Terrytoons, Ralph Bakshi and Jules Feiffer.
